Materials Needed:
Note: A lot of my measurements are not exact, since everyone crochets a littler tighter or looser than the next person. Also the pieces like the teeth and nose don’t have to be exact. It is a zombie, have fun with it!
Start with a Magic Circle in the Red Heart Perfect Pink. Do not ch 1 and do not turn between rows, just keep working in rounds.
Hat Body:
Row 1: 6 sc inside magic circle
Row 2: Inc in each sc around (12 sc total)
Row 3: * inc, sc in next st*. Repeat * around (18 sc total)
Row 4: *inc, sc in next 2 st*. Repeat * around (24 sc total)
Row 5: *inc, sc in next 3 st*. Repeat * around (30 sc total)
Row 6: *inc, sc in next 4 st*. Repeat * around (36 sc total)
Row 7: *inc, sc in next 5 st*. Repeat * around (42 sc total)
Row 8: *inc, sc in next 6 st*. Repeat * around (48 sc total)
Row 9: *inc, sc in next 7 st*. Repeat * around (54 sc total)
Row 10: * inc, sc in next 8 st*. Repeat * around (60 sc total). Switch to Red Heart Super Saver Frosty Green yarn.
Row 11: *inc, sc in next 9 st*. Repeat * around (66 sc total).
Row 12: *inc, sc in next 10 st*. Repeat* around (72 sc total).
Row 13-26: Hdc in each st around, do not sl st to begin next round, just keep working in rounds and use stitch marker to count rows, if desired.
Row 27: sl st to connect last two hdc. Ch1, sc in each st around. Sl st to connect last two sc and tie off and weave in ends
After you have completed the hat body, take red yarn and randomly weave it in to the pink part of the hat to create the brain. (Pictured below)
- Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in Perfect Pink, Frosty Green, and Hot Red, and White
- Black, Green, and White Felt
- H 5.00MM Hook and Stitch Marker, if desired
- Poly-fil or other stuffing for eyeballs
- Needle and Black, White, and Green Thread or fabric glue
- Scissors
- Magic Circle or Magic Ring: ch 2 and begin Row 1 in 2nd ch from hook.
- Inc: 2 sc in same sc st
- Dec: yarn over, insert hook into next st, yarn over insert into next st, yarn over and pull through both loops on hook to combine two stitches.

Eyeballs:
For each eye, you will want to first cut out a blue felt circle about an inch in diameter, and a black felt circle about a half inch in diameter. Sew or use fabric glue to attach the black circle in the center of the blue circle. This will create the “iris” (pictured in the left picture below)
For attached eye:
Row 1: 6 sc inside magic circle
Row 2: Inc in each sc around (12 sc total)
Row 3: * inc, sc in next st*. Repeat * around (18 sc total)
Row 4: *inc, sc in next 2 st*. Repeat * around (24 sc total)
Row 5: *inc, sc in next 3 st*. Repeat * around (30 sc total)
Rows 6 & 7: sc each st around. Tie off. Sew or use fabric glue to attach iris to center (right where you started row 1) of the eye.
For Hanging Eye:
Make a magic circle

Row 3: * inc, sc in next st*. Repeat * around (18 sc total)
Row 4: *inc, sc in next 2 st*. Repeat * around (24 sc total)

Rows6-8: sc each st around. Sew or use fabric glue to attach iris to center (right where you started row 1) of the eye.
Row 9: *dec, sc in next 3 st* repeat * around (24 st total)
Row 10: *dec, sc in next 2 st* repeat * around (18 st total)
Row 11: *Dec, sc in next st* repeat * around (12 st total). I suggest stuffing the eye here.
Row 12: Dec each st around (6 st total). Use a couple sl st to close up hole completely, if necessary. Tie off.
On both eyes, you will want to randomly weave in some red yarn to make the veins (pictured below)

On both eyes, you will want to randomly weave in some red yarn to make the veins (pictured below)
After you have weaved in the veins, you will need the red yarn again to create hanging chain. Make a slip knot and pull the slip knot through the bottom of the eye (closest to the veins). Ch 10. Do not tie off. Cut from yarn skein but leave 6” to a foot of extra yarn at the end. Weave in end closest to eyeball.
Skin Flaps:
Make 8
(Note: these are supposed to look a little ugly and curly, since they are flaps of skin)
Ch 15
Row 1: skip first ch, sc across (14 sc total), ch 1, turn
Row 2: dec 2 times, 6 sc, dec 2 times, ch 1, turn
Row 3: dec 2 times, 2 sc, dec 2 times, ch 1, turn
Row 4: dec, 2 sc, dec, ch 1, turn
Row 5: dec 2 times, tie off and weave in ends.
Felt Work:
Nose: Use black felt for the nose. Cut a triangle approximately 1” across by 1.5” tall.

Felt Work:
Nose: Use black felt for the nose. Cut a triangle approximately 1” across by 1.5” tall.
Back of Hanging Eye:
Use black felt to cut out a circle about the same size as the non-hanging eyeball (about 3.5” to 4” in diameter). Fold the circle in half and cut a very small x in the center.
Teeth:
Use white felt for the teeth. Cut rectangle approximately 1” across by 1.5” tall. Make 3.

Finishing Touches:
- Pin 5 of the skin flaps on the top of the head around the pink circle (top of the triangle facing the center of the hat) and sew the skin flaps on using green thread.
- Sew on and stuff the “half eye” (the one that is not hanging) using white thread and polyfil or your choice of stuffing.
- Using black thread, sew on the Back of the Hanging Eye (black felt circle with the x in the center) next to, but a few inches away from the “half eye”
- Pin on and sew the remaining three skin flap pieces around the black felt circle you just sewed on.
- Take the hanging eye, insert your hook into the hole where you created the chain (that you did not tie off) and sl st into x space in the middle of the large black felt circle you just sewed on. (pictured below)
- Sew on Teeth and Nose
