I've been wanting to add a blog post dedicated to some of the baby items I have been making lately but kept waiting and waiting to be finished with all my projects. Then I realized, I am never going to be done! I guess the good thing about crocheting and babies, is that they are always changing and growing and will always need more things. Now, there are a couple more things I would really like to finish up before my little one is born, but that really all depends on the timing of everything. Plus, there is no way I would be able to finish all those little projects and get a blog post up in the next 5 days. That' s right, 5 days! So, I decided I would maybe just turn it into a two parter. That way the blog post isn't excruciatingly long (which it probably will be anyway).

So, to start off, the first couple items you are seeing are a little hat and mitten set I made for my daughter to come home in. Now, she may or may not actually come home in them depending on the weather and what time of day we come home, but I wanted to be prepared. If I do get a picture of her wearing these, I will try to remember to post it on the next blog.
In addition to the little hat and mitten set, I also made her a couple of blankets (of course). The first one, I hope she can actually sleep with, since it is super light. And yes, I know you are not supposed to let your newborn sleep with a blanket, but it is winter and I feel bad when a little one looks cold. That is why I try and make these blankets as light and full of holes as possible. The stitch I used for this one is the Brick V Stitch on Repeat if you would like to try and replicate.

The second blanket, she will not be sleeping with. This one I made for the carseat and stroller since it is going to be cold outside for the next couple months. This blanket is made using the Crocodile Stitch. I got the idea from a blanket I saw floating around on the internet a while back. I made a few changes and really love how it turned out. It is super thick and will be very warm.
I also have one other blanket I am in the process of working on, as well as a couple other ideas floating around in my head, but I'm not sure if I will get to them. At least, maybe not for my own baby. Either way, look forward to seeing at least one other blanket in the next blog post.

The last thing I have actually completed is this diaper caddy. My grandma sent me all sorts of really old crochet magazines recently and there weren't a whole lot of projects I was interested in trying out, but this one seemed practical and cute. It may be a little dated, but it was something new and will definitely be used for those middle of the night, pitch black diaper changes. Plus, it fit in with the colors of our crib set very nicely. The pattern isn't available online, but if there seems to be a lot of interest in it, I will look into whether or not I can scan a copy in. Although, it was very tedious and time consuming so unless you REALLY like it, you may never finish it. I know I will not be making another one. Finally, here is a picture of our "little nursery". In reality, the crib is set up next to our bed because I find it easier when they are first born to have the crib nearby for a few months, also for the sanity of our four year old.

It will probably be a few weeks before I get another blog post up, but there will be lots more baby stuff coming in the near future (if you are into that sort of thing). I hope you all check back periodically and I can't wait to see what you all think!
